Scanning Issues

Troubleshoot problems with food scanning functionality

Common Questions

The scanner won't recognize my food

Try these steps:

  1. Ensure proper lighting - avoid shadows and glare
  2. Clean your camera lens
  3. Hold the phone steady about 6-8 inches from the food

Scan results seem inaccurate

Our database is constantly improving. For best results:

  • Check if the food is properly framed in the camera view
  • Verify the portion size in the app matches what you're scanning
  • Try manual entry if scanning fails repeatedly
  • Report inaccurate scans using the "Flag Results" button

Scanner freezes or crashes

This is usually caused by:

  • Low memory on your device - try closing other apps
  • Outdated app version - check for updates
  • Camera permission issues - verify Tolero has camera access

If problems persist, restart your device.

Troubleshooting Guide

Advanced Troubleshooting

1. Camera Not Working

  • Go to your device Settings > Apps > Tolero > Permissions
  • Ensure Camera permission is enabled
  • Try clearing the app cache (Settings > Apps > Tolero > Storage)

2. Slow Scanning

  • Connect to a stronger Wi-Fi or cellular signal
  • Reduce image quality in Tolero Settings > Camera
  • Disable battery saver mode during scanning
